INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOPS
ESTT College’s suite of short courses and weekend workshops are designed to introduce participants to the basic principles of a range of massage therapy and bodywork techniques, self-management, preventative health management and related natural therapies. The range of therapies covered in these workshops aim to broaden tactile knowledge, increase treatment management confidence and open your mind to other possibilities for health management.
All courses include a course manual and access to the ESTT College common area tea, coffee, and kitchen facilities. You should wear loose, comfortable clothing (no jeans or thick materials), ensure your nails are short and long hair is tied back neatly.
Whether you are investigating a potential career, seeking information for personal, home use or a seasoned professional looking for additional tools and continuing education points, start your journey with one of our taster programs.

Introduction to Massage
Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 15 hours – usually 2 days (1 weekend) 9:00am-5:30pm

Learn about the Art and Science of Massage in this energetic, unique and memorable practical workshop, as presented by International presenter, Principal and Founder of ESTT College of Natural Medicine, Professor Raymond K. Carroll. Meet interesting, like minded students for this unforgettably enjoyable hands-on workshop covering techniques in Relaxation Massage, Sports Massage, Remedial Massage, Traditional Chinese Massage, Polarity Therapy (energy balancing), massage theory, skin applications, Aromatherapy, hygiene, ethics and draping, with a concentration on caring for yourself and others in the community.
Overviews of different allied tactile therapies and real career opportunities both in Australia and worldwide will also be discussed. The introduction to massage weekend may be taken on its own for home use, or as the start of a new Career in Massage Therapies. Whichever direction you are taking, this workshop can be a life changing experience!
This is the only compulsory pre-requisite for entrance into any of ESTT College’s Certificate IV courses or Diploma courses in Massage Therapy.
Aromatherapy Essentials – Pre-requisite for aromatherapy practitioner training
Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 15 hours – usually 2 days on weekends 9:00am-5:30pm
Supplied: Course manual, all ingredients for products made during the workshop
Please bring: Paper/pen, 4-6 towels, face washer and hand towels, plus 4-6 clean, small empty jars for samples of products made
This two-day workshop covers the fundamentals of Aromatherapy. The range of topics covered include the history of Aromatherapy, essential oils and oil quality, Aromatherapy uses and applications, oil blending, oil characteristics and applications of Aromatherapy for common ailments.
Crystal Point Therapy
Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 15 hours – usually 2 days / weekend 9:00am-5:30pm

Please bring: Paper, pen, towels (4-6 large, 2 hand towels), Tuina massage cloth, your own crystals
A unique workshop that uses the power of crystals to enhance relaxation and gives a whole new meaning to Seated Massage. The wand is a crystal ball joined to a pointed hexagonal stem by a ceramic necklace encrusted with beautiful stones. Using the ball the stem and the point this massage sequence will work wonders over feet, back, shoulders, neck and scalp to transform your client.
First Aid
Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 12 hours – usually 2 days on weekends 10:00am-5:00pm

Please bring: Paper, pen and your experiences of first aid incidents!

A current First Aid Certificate must be obtained prior to commencing Student Clinics and maintained current as a Graduate/Practitioner. This 2 day Certificate will take you through DRABC, CPR, acute injury management, basic First Aid, what should be in a First Aid kit and discussion and role play on situations and circumstances in which you may be an valuable, even life saving, citizen.
This is the workshop will qualify you as an First Aid officer in most workplace environments.
First Aid Refresher
Pre-requisites: Current First Aid certificate
Duration: 6 hours + workbook completed 7 days prior (allow approximately 12 hours) – usually 1 days on a weekend 10:00am-5:00pm

Please bring: Paper, pen, bandages and your experiences of first aid incidents!
1 day refresher program for those seeking to update their certification prior to its expiry (3 years from assessment date). Contact hours include review of CPR and role-play scenarios to review and update first aid principles and practice to improve confidence in applying first aid.
Hand & Foot Bath
Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 7.5 hours – usually 1 days on a weekend 9:00am-5:30pm

Introduction to Hatha Yoga

Duration: 15 hours – usually evenings 7:00pm – 8:45pm

A series of 10 classes encompassing 1 hour of practical yoga and half hour theory describing through demonstration and experience the tenets of Hatha Yoga. Breathing, posture, flexibility and strength are enhanced and supported by discussion of the underlying anatomical and physiological processes. A valuable reference point for client self management, and for further training – whether for self-management or development into a yoga teacher.
Introduction to Polarity Therapy

This weekend introduces Polarity Therapy as a unique and total holistic approach to health and healing which teaches people new ways to be responsible for their own health.
It is a science of balancing the life energy in the human body encompassing soft, gentle, sometimes deep therapeutic techniques, elimination and cleansing diets, health nutritional advise, polarity yoga and holistic counselling perspectives. Each of these vital components of polarity therapy is comprehensive, integrative, simple and effective to employ in anyone’s lifestyle through knowledge.
Introduction to Shiatsu

Shiatsu, meaning finger pressure, is traditional Japanese massage. This workshop will teach you the principals and theories behind this unique therapy, with a discussion regarding the use and application in a professional situation. ESTT College provides futons for use during the workshop.
Introduction to Tuina

This weekend seminar will introduce you to the many therapeutic effects of Traditional Chinese Tuina massage. It will give you sound knowledge of Chinese Tuina as a treatment and component part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, (T.C.M.) and introduce practical Tuina (massage) skills.
The program covers fundamental ideas of ancient Chinese Traditional medical philosophy and hands-on learning of Chinese meridian points commonly used in conjunction with Tuina (massage) techniques, two important Tuina (massage) techniques, plus infant Tuina (massage) techniques and a full body rejuvenation self Tuina (massage) sequence.
Massage During Pregnancy

Assist the miracle of life and learn how to comfort and relieve pain & tension of expecting mums. The physiology of pregnancy and hormonal changes will be discussed before moving on to the practical application of techniques, draping, and positioning for maximal comfort & benefit. These techniques can be applied to a variety of practice settings including treatment in aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation and disabled clients.
Seated Massage
Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 22 hours – usually 3 days on weekends 9:00am-5:30pm plus 1 hour on a later date

Learn two specific seated massage styles that are useful in clinic, corporate and promotional settings where the client is fully clothed. Both the Relaxation and Stress Diffusion techniques provide the client with an effective introduction to touch therapies and you as a therapist. The incorporation of Shiatsu and T.C.M. principles make the treatment extremely effective in alleviating stress and muscle tension within the constraints of massage in the workplace, conference, expo, shopping centre and other public / corporate environments. Seated Massage is a rapidly expanding business sector as this massage can be carried out at any location.
The ESTT College Seated Massage sequences were developed in collaboration with Dr Wang Jianmin (Nanjing University of TCM, Nanjing, PRC) and Master Tokijuro Namikoshi (Namikoshi Institute, Tokyo, Japan).
This subject is included in all ESTT College Diploma of Health Science courses and can be used for ongoing professional development or home use.
Self Massage & Stretching
Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 7.5 hours – usually 1 day on a weekend 9:00am-5:30pm

This workshop is designed specifically for therapists to enhance their own performance and promote wellbeing for individuals, it also provides you with the tools to prescribe self-management protocols for your clients. A 100% practical day, in the morning sample the benefits of hot & cold applications and enjoy a full body self massage (over clothing) and spend the afternoon stretching your body from top to toe. This workshop is for anyone.
Spa and Clay Therapies
Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 15 hours – usually 2 days on weekends 9:00am-5:30pm
Included: Course manual, Spa products
Please bring: Pen, paper, hot water flask, medium – large size bowl, fitted sheet, plenty of towels, 2 x face washers/hand towels.
This workshop introduces you to the ever expanding Spa Industry. Throughout the two days we will discuss your role as a spa therapist, how to market yourself and your product, products and equipment used in spas. You will also have the opportunity to practice various body treatments.
Sports Strapping and Taping
Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 7.5 hours – usually 1 days on a weekend 9:00am-5:30pm
Included: Course manual, tape
Please bring: Paper, pen, wear sports clothing that allows access to shoulder and knee, remove hair from at least 1 shoulder, knee and ankle
This workshop covers all aspects of product knowledge, the use and purpose of sports strapping, plus taping technology and skill with hands on practice for the major joints needing support in sporting activities.
